Where I’m at from A to Z (revisited)

A few years back, I wrote a blog post called “Where I’m at from A to Z.” You can find it here. It was well received and so I thought I’d do something similar this week. I really don’t know “where I’m at” and so I’m writing this off the cuff. Hopefully, I’ll have a better idea by the time I get to Z!

I’m Anxious to release my next novel, Novelista Girl, and hope the fans of Blogger Girl consider it worth the wait.

I’m Bored at my day job this week, but after the hectic pace of the week before, am not complaining.

I still Cry a little almost every day over the death of my best friend, Alan. (Cancer sucks.)

I hope someday to be able to celebrate National Dog Day (and every other day) with my very own canine best friend. Someday.

I’m still lacking Energy despite getting nine hours of sleep last night (9!!!)

I’m thrilled that tomorrow is Friday.

I’ve been binge-watching Gilmore Girls and think it might be one of the most adorable shows ever.

I’m trying to write my own Happily Ever After, but there is a bit too much conflict and not enough resolution.

I hate feeling Invisible, and can’t imagine choosing it as my super hero ability. Time travel is where it’s at.

I love Joking around, but sometimes I crave deep conversation.

I think Kindness is underrated and get the warm and fuzzies giving, receiving, and witnessing it in action.

I’m an expert at Losing things (earrings, pens, umbrellas), but I’m very competitive and don’t like to Lose.

I sometimes wish my life was like a Hallmark Movie. Sometimes being now.

I appreciate being Noticed, but only in a good way, as opposed to when I trip on a flight of stairs in Grand Central Station. Twice.

I’m so over Online dating and think it’s become the worst way to meet someone if you’re looking for more than casual dating/sex.

I prefer Plums above all other fruits and just bought three from a fruit truck on my way home from work.

I wish the coffee shop where I wrote was more Quiet, but that’s what I get for preferring to write in public rather than in the privacy of my own home.

I Ran 13 miles this week so far and the weather has been so fantastic, I hope to run another 13 in the next two days.

I’m crushing big-time on Sam Palladio who plays Gunnar on one of my favorite television shows, Nashville, and have cast him in the role of Nicholas in the Blogger Girl series (for when it becomes a movie, of course.)

I used to Talk so much that my family paid me a quarter for every minute I kept my mouth shut—it was the early eighties and a quarter was the going rate—now I sometimes worry that I don’t talk enough.

I don’t Understand the sport of football even though my biggest client at my day job is the National Football League (perhaps I should not have written that…) and am not looking forward to losing my friends to football season.

I prefer Vanilla ice cream over chocolate, love dark chocolate, and think white chocolate should be banned from the chocolate family. Who’s with me?

I enjoy delayed gratification when I know something good is coming, but otherwise, I hate Waiting.

I have come very close to beating the crap out of the Xerox copy machine at work and make no assurances about its future well-being if it doesn’t behave itself.

I’m genre-hopping with my current work-in-progress and writing Young adult—having the time of my life.

Zat’s all folks! (Yes, I am a dork.)

Both thing content and the exercise itself. Might have to copy it myself. Arleen

Thank you! It’s a fun way to get the creative juices flowing 🙂

My apologies. I’m traveling and trying to keep up by phone. Of course I meant I liked both your content and the exercise!

Haha! Love this. This is great. And I’m totally with you on Online Dating. It’s the bane of my existence. Nothing can make you feel worse than putting yourself out there to meet someone, and clicking Yes on their picture, but you find out they Clicked No on you (Via Coffee Meets Bagel). I’ve yet to find someone worthwhile online. Give me an old fashioned Meet Cute any day (Sadly, there are too many Kanye Wests in the world, and not enough Cary Grants…I need to put that in my book!).

Almost everyone I meet is looking to “casually” date which means they just want to screw me (and anyone else who is willing) when it’s convenient for them. And most of them are not even fling-worthy in my book. I hate it! I definitely prefer the old fashioned Meet Cute myself 🙂 Hence, my addiction to the Hallmark Movie Channel.

      • martinbeks on August 28, 2015 at 12:07 pm

OMG. Seriously. I recorded so many Hallmark movies on my DVR a couple weeks ago. In fact, I started watching Golden Girls on Hallmark one morning, and stayed on that channel for FIVE MOVIES. I MIGHT have a problem. lol
I think I might need to figure out how to write for them. It’s just up my alley!

Fabulous Meredith! Highly entertaining/interesting. I have (truthfully, I’m not just flattering you) wondered for some time why you are still single, since it’s obviously not by choice. You are incredibly beautiful (there’s an advert with a woman who looks very like you on TV here in the UK and she always catches my eye), talented, intelligent, funny and kind amongst many other things. I’m guessing you just must be very choosy, which is no bad thing. 🙂

Thank you so much, Ruth! That’s such a nice thing to say. Honestly, I blame myself for being single up to a point – I wasn’t ready and I sabotaged a lot of potentially good relationships without even realizing it. But for a while now, it’s not me – I swear. And although I’m selective, I’m not “picky” about stupid things. At this point, I blame it on technology making it so easy for people to not bother to get to know someone on the assumption that “there’s always something better around the corner” – I want something with the potential to be long-term and committed, but I’m having trouble finding like-minded men I actually connect with. But I will take your complimentary words with me when I’m out this weekend. You never know!

A friend sent me a text yesterday with a link to an article about being single. In part, it comes down to data and numbers. I’ll message it to you on FB, I think you would also find it interesting.

  4. Ruth Mancini on August 28, 2015 at 11:34 am

PS Am with you on the white chocolate issue.

  5. mybookfetish on August 28, 2015 at 12:11 pm

Love this! And I, too, adore dark chocolate and think white chocolate is just trying to hang with the cool kids. Great list overall. I can relate!

    • meredithgschorr on August 28, 2015 at 12:51 pm

I don’t think I want to read anything negative or depressing! I don’t believe in the whole numbers game. I can go out with 100s of guys (In fact, I might have) and it doesn’t mean anything will work out. I just want to enjoy my life and meet someone great when I meet someone great 🙂

      • mybookfetish on August 28, 2015 at 1:23 pm

The numbers is more that we outnumber the guys! It’s coming down to statistics. Not that we are always too picky 🙂

Good to know – I hate when women are blamed for being single. Obviously, it is sometimes the women’s fault, but right now, I do think the male/female ratio, as well as the fact that technology makes it so easy to be casual, is what’s working against us.

As far as you and the dating thing- what Ruth said, and I believe that it’s not you!! And white chocolate- blech!

  7. laurieprim on August 28, 2015 at 12:19 pm

PS, love your A-Z, fun and clever!

  8. Marj on August 28, 2015 at 5:32 pm

Love this blog! I’m with you on the white chocolate thing. I can’t believe I ever liked it. Too sweet. I know “Novelista Girl” will be worth the wait! And I still can’t follow football either. It’s been explained to me umpteen times but I find myself always getting bored and not really paying attention to it enough to really follow along. Give me baseball any day of the week. I hope to fulfill your desire for deep conversation in the very near future if we could both the time at the same time!! XO

    • meredithgschorr on August 29, 2015 at 10:39 am

Glad you liked it!! We are definitely sisters. And, yes, we need to talk soon. This is getting ridiculous 🙁

  9. jennifergilbert2013 on August 31, 2015 at 10:34 am

White chocolate is not chocolate! I agree!!!

    • meredithgschorr on September 3, 2015 at 9:56 am

We should petition to get the word “chocolate” removed from its name…perhaps “white mockolate?”

Awesomely creative. It would take me weeks to figure out sentences featuring each letter (chronologically ordered) of the alphabet. Your comments about online dating is so very true. If you are looking for an actual relationship with a real person, do not use online dating sites. It’s tough enough finding The One in real life.

Your sense of humor attracts readers as much as the stories. Remember that laughter truly is the best medicine — unless you break a leg.

    • meredithgschorr on September 3, 2015 at 9:55 am

I’m so glad you like it! And that you agree with me on the online dating thing…

      • MacJoyful on September 3, 2015 at 10:05 am

I’m divorced and too old to retrain an appropriate male type for cohabitation but I’ve been out there in the past. Russian Roulette is a better bet. Not that I’ve ever played with guns or anything lethal. I’ve heard one story of a successful link up. Way more horror stories outweigh the “benefits” of the online dating “services”. Anyway, life isn’t so bad being single. I’m used to it now after 20 some years divorced. Rascal (my doggy pal) and I never have remote control issues.

Just keep looking on the sunny side of things — even when it seems there can’t be, it’s possible to locate a silver lining in the darkest mushroom cloud.

        Hyperbolic much? Yep.
