The Pollyanna Plan Meets Blogger Girl in London
As part of the United Authors of Chick Lit Promotion, I would like to welcome Talli Roland and Emma Beckett, the main character of her fabulous chick lit novel The Pollyanna Plan to my blog today. As an aside, Talli is one of my favorite chick lit authors. I’ve read all but one of her books and so I’m kind of giddy about co-promoting with her. Additionally, I’ve never been to London so I get to live vicariously through Kim on her trip. I hope you’re as curious about how Emma showed Kim around London as I am! When you’re finished, check out Talli’s Blog to see how Kimberly Long, the main character of Blogger Girl, showed Emma around the town in NYC and don’t forget to pick up The Pollyanna Plan. You won’t be sorry :).
The Pollyanna Plan Meets Blogger Girl in London
Since Kim from New York is passing through London, Emma has taken the day off to show her around the ‘hood. First of all, they climb to the top of chi-chi Primrose Hill, where Gwyneth Paltrow resides. As Kim is rather short, she has to struggle to keep up with Emma. Unfortunately, Paltrow et al weren’t around today.

They head down the incline towards Regent’s Canal, following the towpath that Emma only discovered after meeting Will, her boyfriend. Will lives on one of the brightly coloured canal boats in an area called Little Venice. It’s a gorgeous time of year for a walk on the canal, with the leaves shining gold in the sun.
Over lunch on a boat cum cafe docked in the basin, Kim confides she’s a chick lit addict. Emma’s not so keen, but since agreeing to the Pollyanna Plan – where she attempts to always see the upside – she decides to give it a try.
Lunch devoured, the pair decide to spend the afternoon in nearby Regent’s Park, lolling about on the grass and enjoying the lovely weather.
After a busy afternoon relaxing, hunger called and Emma led Kim back to her flat where she whipped up her infamous Thai curry. When the bottle of wine was polished off, Kim left to catch her flight back to New York, and the two promised to keep in touch.
About The Pollyanna Plan
Thirty-something Emma Beckett has always looked down on ‘the glass is half full’ optimists, believing it’s better to be realistic than delusional. But when she loses her high-powered job and fiancé in the same week, even Emma has difficulty keeping calm and carrying on.
With her world spinning out of control and bolstered by a challenge from her best friend, Emma makes a radical decision. For the next year, she’ll behave like Pollyanna: attempting to always see the upside, no matter how dire the situation.
Can adopting a positive attitude give Emma the courage to build a new life, or is finding the good in everything a very bad idea?

Well, now I need to add Little Venice to my list of places to see if I ever visit London. Those boats look so cool! Great post, ladies! Now I’m off to read about Kim being Emma’s tour guide in NYC!
Tracie, Little Venice is amazing – one of my favourite parts of London.
Meredith, thank you so much for your kind words! 🙂 It’s such a pleasure to be a part of this promotion.
You’re very welcome! I had fun too 🙂
Oh I loved this visit! And I love Emma anyway (I’ve already read Talli’s book, now Blogger Girl is on the TBR list!) I just want to wander along that tow path and then lie in Regent’s Park in the sunshine now … shame it’s a bit far and too cold! 🙂
It’s a little cold right now, yes – and rainy. But when you next come to London, we have to meet!
Had fun reading this post. Have read The Pollyanna Plan – great book. Fancy a trip to London too! Great post. Kim xxx
Thank you, Kim! One of these days I’m sure we’ll meet in London. Until then… we’ll always have Bedford. Ha.
I love this promotion- such a cool idea! Right… off to Talli’s place 🙂
Yay! Thanks, Lovely Laura. 🙂
I can’t wait to read The Pollyanna Plan, Talli! I laughed out loud when Kim had to keep up with Emma on her short person legs. At five feet tall, I can relate. 🙂 Great post and pics!
Samantha Stroh Bailey
Thanks, Samantha. It was really fun to write.
Ooh, I can’t wait to crack open The Pollyanna Plan! How cool that it takes place in my old stomping ground. Well, sort of. I lived in the sketchy part of Belsize Park but I did take many a stroll around Primrose Hill and Regents Park. Fabulous post, ladies!
I didn’t know Belsize Park had sketchy areas! 🙂 I love Primrose Hill.
So that’s what Will’s stretch of London looks like!
Terrific post, ladies!
Thank you, William! It really is a lovely spot.
These photos are fantastic — it sounds like the characters had a great time hanging out.
Thanks, Laura! I think they did. 🙂
