Final installment of Casting of Blogger Girl – Queen Bee Hannah Marshak

Welcome to the final installment of The Casting of Blogger Girl Series! To recap, in the previous posts, we cast the roles of Kimberly (Isla Fisher), Nicholas (Matt Long) and Bridget (Blake Lively). Today we will cast the role of evil high school nemesis, Hannah Marshak!

To be fair, Hannah Marshak is not evil. She’s just extremely self-absorbed, full of herself and devious. Back in high school, she was tireless in her efforts to make Kimberly and her best friend Bridget miserable, but thanks to Kim and Bridget’s unbreakable bond of friendship, most of Hannah’s attempts to shake the two were in vain.

Check out this scene during their ten year high school reunion:

I’m surprised you guys are so close,” Hannah said.

Feeling my muscles tense, I narrowed my eyes at her. “Oh? Why is that?”

Hannah shrugged. “I know you’re just a secretary, but at least you have your blog. Doesn’t Bridget work at home or something?”

I momentarily felt short of breath as if someone had cut off the supply of oxygen to my lungs. “Bridget runs her own web design company and has an office in the luxury door man apartment that she owns, yes. And I’m ‘just a secretary.’”

Looking at me with pity, she said, “Not surprising you’re a professional reader. Back in high school, you always had your nose behind a book. Although I probably shouldn’t poke fun at readers since I need you to buy my…” Hannah stopped mid-sentence and gawked at me. “Oh my God. I just remembered something.”

I took a gulp of beer and feigned boredom. “Yeah? What’s that?”

“You wanted to be a writer too.”

I felt my face drain of color. “What makes you say that?”

“That poetry contest sophomore year. The winner was going to have her poem published in Self Magazine.” With a wry face, she said, “You showed so much promise. Too bad you didn’t win. You came in second though, right?”

“No, I didn’t.” Thanks for reminding me.

This is how Kim describes Hannah’s appearance: Her naturally curly dark hair had been flat ironed within an inch of its life and fell past her shoulders and her thick bangs were cut right above her eyebrows emphasizing her topaz eyes and long black eyelashes.

It didn’t take me too long to cast the role of Hannah but these were some of the actresses who made the short list:

Hannah Simone, famous for her role as Cece on The New Girl

Megan Fox

Odette Yustman

Leighton Meester – (Melissa Amster from Chick Lit Central almost had it when she chose her since she was the runner up!)

I ultimately chose an actress who I think can play both evil and comical and I know she has chemistry with Isla Fisher since they worked together on Confessions of a Shopaholic. So, without further ado, my choice for the role of Hannah Marshak goes to:

Hannah "Queen Bee" Marshak!

Hannah “Queen Bee” Marshak!

Krysten Ritter – the ultimate “mean girl”!!

What do you think of my choice?

Thank you for joining me as I cast the starring roles in Blogger Girl. Although the series has now concluded, here are some extra casting decisions:

Kim’s ex-boyfriend Jonathan – Adam Brody

 SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL

Kim’s Boss Rob – Alec Baldwin

Condescending colleague Daneen – Bethany Joy Lenz

I’m curious as to who you all pictured as the characters in Blogger Girl. Please leave me a comment and let me know! Hollywood has not come calling yet so there is still time for changes 🙂

Ah, Alec Baldwin would be hilarious as Kim’s boss! And you already know I approve of Adam Brody 😉 I think I see Odette as Hannah more than Krysten but they were all really good choices! I’ve loved reading about your casting choices…I’m sad it’s all done!

Yeah, I’m not entirely sure. Part of me feels that Hannah should be more comical than glamorous which is why I chose Krysten but while I was writing this installment, I had my doubts… I’m so glad you enjoyed the series and I’m kind of sad it’s over too!
